Dystonia 

dystonia is a movement disorder characterized by sustained or intermittent muscle contractions causing abnormal, often repetitive, movements, postures, or both.

What Types of dystonia ?

General dystonia

Hemi dystonia 

segment dystonia 

Focal dystonia -blephrospasam,cervical,oromandibular , crank-cervical ,axial and limbs

What is drug induced dystonia?

Cervical dystonia is condition that causes your neck muscles to contraction involuntarily.

Cervical Dystonia caused  from abnormal functioning of the basal ganglia which are collection of sub cortical nuclei which are used for modulation and return function of cortex.

Drug induced Dystonia resulted from imbalance between Anticholinergics and dopaminergic receptors I.e blockage of dopamine receptors 
 
What are the Symptoms in cervical dystonia?

Spams :muscle tighten, hard and unable to relax ,sometimes muscle may twitch and jerk
 
Roaring of head
Tilting  of head towards sides , forward , backward - angular movements 
Bending- sides , forward , backwards 
These symptoms may lead to pain and headaches 


What Drugs causing drug induced dystonia?

Anti psychotic drugs 
Anti emetics drugs
Anti depressant 
 
What duration and description for acute DID ?

rapid /within hours 

Description:sustained muscle contraction


What is Acute treatment for dystonia?

Benzatropine 
Trihexyphenidyl

👉I’ve learned how Detailed treatment history would help in diagnosis of patient.

👉I’ve learn how to rule out possible differential diagnosis based proper history and clinical examination.

👉Mostly my case is diagnosed by history taking I’ve what medication may lead this condition.

👉I’ve  learn how to approach drug induced dystonia in terms of  management and treatment .
